Nature Restoration Law
1. A biodiversity
bill initiated by the European Commission in the EU Parliament was passed.
2. It aims to
recover degraded ecosystems by reclamation of forested areas, marine habitats
and growing birds, bees in the farmlands.
3. Indicates
Europe's commitment to achieve green goals and climate adaptation goals.
Soft Release Centre
1. A place where
animals will be placed in pre- release cages located close to the location from
where animals will be released.
2. After some
time, they are allowed to go out but also has an opportunity to return to the
cage for food, water and shelter.
3. 50 Chitals is
being planned to be introduced into Palamu Tiger Reserve, Jharkhand from Betla
National Forest through soft release centre.
4. The move is
intended to increase the prey base of tigers and leopards in Palamu Tiger
Reserve.
5. This
introduction requires approval from NTCA (National Tiger Conservation
Authority) as well as from the central government.
