1. A statutory body of the GOI under the
Aircraft (Amendment) Act, 2020 to regulate civil aviation in India.
2. Functions:
a. The DGCA investigates aviation
accidents and incidents
b. maintains all regulations related to
aviation
c. Issues licenses pertaining to
aviation.
d. Certification of airports
e. Issuing license to pilots, aircraft
maintenance engineers, air traffic controllers and flight engineers.

Make amendments to the Aircraft Act, the Aircraft Rules
and the Civil Aviation Requirements

4. The GoI is planning to replace the body with a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), modelled on the lines of the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
